Starfish Malawi Walk - Saturday 26th June

A group set off to complete the sponsored walk for Starfish Malawi at Bewl Water.  Starfish Malawi is a Christian Charity supporting work with children in Malawi.   We set off together with high hopes of doing all 13 miles around Bewl Water.  However, with the temptation of being able to walk half way and get a boat across to the finish, we wondered how many of us would do the whole thing.   In the end it was too much for Richard, who disabled while serving in the army during the Falklands war, heroically walked 5 miles before needing to rest in the pub!  Jude pretended Richard needed the company and skived off the rest of the walk, while the rest of us carried on.  We all decided to get the boat across to the finish as time was against us, but John missed the turning!  So, in the end the oldest member of our group walked all 13 miles around Bewl Water, putting us very much to shame.  Great day though!

Fun at our Family Services

Our Family Services always promise to be fun. Bettys Buddies from Holy Trinity, Larkfield were one of our guest speakers earlier this year. There were lots of laughs and the puppets were extremely entertaining in conveying their message that each one of us is special and loved by God.

Saying Goodbye

Steve and Jude slipped on their lab coats for another memorable Family Service with Steve’s Mind Reading Machine… it didn’t work, but the message from Psalm 139 that God loves and knows us certainly did!

Pampered Chef Funraising Event

To raise fund for a disabled ramp for the Dorcas Centre, Pam organised a Pampered Chef Cooking Show.  Roger and Lisa were pitted head to head in a “Can’t Cook, Won’t Cook” Style showdown.  Nearly £100 was raised and lots of fun and food was enjoyed by all.

Baptisms and Bouncy Castles

After the success of Alpha last year where we saw many people want to know more about Jesus, we were delighted to baptize Richard who had come to faith after completing the Alpha Course.

We were equally as excited to also Baptize Claire who had decided it was time for her to “take the plunge”!

Of course, no celebration is complete without food and fun, and we had a great afternoon enjoying each others company and bouncing on the bouncy castle.. more pictures to follow.

Alpha Course

Building on the success of the last Alpha Course, Churches Together in Malling hosted another Alpha Course which started on Wednesday 23rd September 2009 through to 9th December, at THE DORCAS CENTRE.

Churches took it in turn to cook and serve a meal. Participants then watched a short DVD on the theme of the week followed by a lively discussion.

Feedback from the course was very positive, with lots of people saying that they had enjoyed meeting new people, finding out more about God and gained friendship and faith.

If you are interested in attending the next Alpha Course, starting after Easter 2011, please phone Mark on: 0781 391 9220 or email info@larkfieldcommunitychurch.co.uk.

You would be very welcome.  But why wait for the Alpha Course?  If you have any questions or queries, contact us and we will be happy to help.
